For more information visit our website Role Overview Reporting to the Director, Process Engineering, the Senior Tailings and Water Engineer will be an integral member of an experienced corporate engineering team working on a broad spectrum of projects at various stages of design, permitting, construction and operation. Based in Vancouver, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical oversight of tailings and water related site investigation, lab testing, design, modelling, and effects assessments. This role will also contribute to technical aspects of environmental assessments, permitting, NI 43-101 Technical Reports and evaluation of potentially accretive acquisitions. Core Responsibilities Lead the performance of tailings and water related engineering studies, trade-off studies, cost analysis and planning activities to support the advancement of developmental projects Ownership of geotechnical, geochemical, and hydrogeological aspects across various development projects including site investigation, lab testing, design, modelling, and effects assessments Contribute to technical aspects of due-diligence reviews, environmental assessments, permitting, NI 43-101 Technical Reports and other public disclosures Assume a project management role for technical studies and field programs including evaluating proposals, controlling costs and schedules, and coordinating deliverables Support evaluation of emergent or alternative technologies that could be applied to Taseko's portfolio of development projects Present results of studies and projects to executive level staff in Vancouver through a variety of methods including written reports, memos, live presentations, and informal discussions Adhere to Taseko's PPMP and internal procedures to produce high-quality engineering work Liaise with project staff, consultants, and contractors, and occasionally travel to sites for technical support Communicate with government, stakeholders, and communities to support environmental assessment and permitting of Taseko's development projects Participate in professional organizations and stay current on industry trends and developments Education & Experience Degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Mine Engineering, or a related discipline 8 years of relevant technical and supervisory experience, including 3 years at operating mine sites Registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC in good standing Experience in equipment selection, cost estimation, and financial evaluation Deep understanding of mine waste and water management strategies, TSF design and construction methodologies, and water treatment technologies Familiarity with alternative assessments, best available technology studies, stability analysis, inundations studies, water balances, and water quality models Experience coordinating with specialists across a range of technical fields on an overall project design Ability to manage a small team including consultants and internal personnel to deliver results on time and on-budget Skills & Competencies High ethical standards, accountability, and integrity Proven initiative and self-motivation Strong relationship management, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills Excellent communication skills including written, presentation, and conversational skills across a variety of audiences ranging from the general public to the highly technical Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time Ability to lead and work within a small, dynamic, and multi-disciplinary team Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and within established timelines Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements applicable for mining, including requirements of NI 43-101 and EGBC Ability to act as a Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101 Compensation At all Taseko locations, we pride ourselves on offering a challenging and rewarding work environment.
