Summary: Under the direction of the HSE Supervisor, the HSE Advisor will work closely with department managers, assisting with safety-related administrative tasks, attending team meetings, and other meetings as requested. The incumbent will conduct all activities in support of the mission, vision, and values of Fort McKay Group of Companies LP. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring pre-employment/pre-access testing. Key Focus: Conduct field tours, worker observations, and work site safety inspections. Investigate incidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions; complete incident causation analysis; develop, implement, and follow up on corrective actions. Attend toolbox talks, pre-job planning/kick-offs, monthly safety meetings, and weekly client and HSE team meetings. Create and conduct safety meetings. Develop procedures, accept standards, and ensure compliance with OHS & client standards. Participate in audits. Perform quality checks, count, and file operational documentation; update site-based statistics. Lead in creating Job Safety Analyses and update them as conditions and processes change. Maintain knowledge of current OH&S legislation, federal and provincial laws, and company standards and policies. Provide mentoring to workers and leaders on maintaining safe work habits and practices. Contribute to ongoing procedural, policy, and documentation updates as required. Make immediate interventions on unsafe acts. Skills and Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required. OH&S Certificate or Diploma course (minimum enrollment required). NCSO Certification required. Minimum one (1) year of experience required. One to three years of experience in oil industry, gas, trucking, procurement, or warehousing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license and a clean three-year drivers abstract. CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO certification required. Must be physically and mentally fit, able to safely drive in mining environments alone. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal, problem-solving, and listening skills. Legally eligible to work in Canada. This is a full-time position located in Edmonton, AB. Work schedule: 7 & 7; days only (Thursday to Wednesday); 11.5 hours per day.
