The Electrical Department The Electrical Department specializes in the design of Lighting, Power Distribution, Fire Alarm, Nurse Call, Communications and Security systems for commercial, healthcare, institutional, retail, residential and mixed-use high-rise projects. We are seeking a Junior Electrical Technologist or Designer for our Edmonton office as we expand. We offer progressive career opportunities, a healthy work environment and a variety of challenging projects. Your Key Responsibilities Produce electrical AutoCAD drawings. Perform design calculations for building electrical systems. Learn the TWS document production standards. Ensure design complies with codes and regulations. Sizing of distribution equipment. Design of life safety systems (fire alarm system, emergency lighting layout, exit signs). Ensure projects are completed within allotted schedules and budgets and to high quality standards. Construction administration such as: Attend meetings with clients, Architects, trades. Write site instructions, Proposed Change Orders and other documents. Perform site reviews as required. Assist with other tasks as assigned by supervisor. Work well independently or in a team environment. Objectives Ensure professionalism in all communications with existing clients. Ensure the effectiveness of the drawings. Compensation Range $55,000-$65,000 Your Capabilities and Credentials As the successful candidate, you will have experience in a variety of building-related projects. Qualifications include: Passion about excelling as a Consulting Engineer. Graduate of Electrical Engineering program in Canada. Excellent communication skills (interpersonal; verbal and written) and ability to prepare cohesive reports and collaborate with the team. Good basic knowledge of electrical systems and electrical design concepts. Familiarity with building construction processes, governing codes and standards. Problem-solving abilities. Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit. Understand the Canadian Electrical Code. Understand the Alberta Building Codes. Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
