Customers can set up a new database with just a few clicks, and complex administrative tasks like scaling, failover, and monitoring are all automatically handled by our control systems. Amazon RDS Open Source is an exciting area of innovation for AWS. We are helping customers have performance, availability and durability, with open source databases, with managed benefits of RDS. The systems we build manage huge numbers of databases, and our service is growing fast, requiring constant innovations in our systems in order to handle the next order of magnitude in service scale. Key Responsibilities To Succeed In This Role, You Will Be: A hiring genius scale the engineering organization to meet customer demands. A technical wizard push the envelope on designing systems of scale and deploy code to millions of servers worldwide. An ambassador extraordinaire engage with customers, internal stakeholders, and external partners to communicate vision, roadmap, and support. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of engineering team management experience 7+ years of engineering experience 8+ years of leading definition and development of multitier web services Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for full development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations Experience partnering with product or program management teams Preferred Qualifications Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective, product software engineers Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge, skills, and experience.
