Salary Range CA$90,000.00/yr CA$120,000.00/yr Position Overview We are seeking a handson, systemssavvy Financial Controller to lead our daytoday accounting operations while driving automation, improving financial controls, and supporting strategic analysis. This role will manage a small team and play a key part in streamlining financial workflows, implementing automation tools to enhance efficiency, and supporting the VP of Finance in delivering accurate, timely financial data to guide strategic decisionmaking. What Youll Do Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering accountability, accuracy, and professional growth. Own the monthend, quarterend, and yearend close processes ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with ASPE. Partner with the finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning to support decisionmaking. Collaborate crossfunctionally to align financial reporting with operational performance. Core Accounting & Controls Oversee fullcycle accounting, including AR, AP, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. Review and approve daily transactions, journal entries, and vendor payments in line with internal controls. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE. Maintain compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements, coordinating with external auditors and advisors. Strengthen internal controls and ensure auditreadiness across all accounting cycles. Automation & Systems Drive process improvement and automation across accounting workflows. Oversee system integrations between QuickBooks Online (QBO), Dext, and warehouse/order platforms. Apply advanced tools (SQL, Python, VBA, or AIdriven solutions) to streamline reporting and unlock insights. Identify and implement cost optimization and process redesign opportunities. Analysis & Insight Conduct variance and trend analyses across revenue, COGS, expenses, and margins. Investigate anomalies, surface insights proactively, and partner with leadership to resolve discrepancies. Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations. What You Bring CPA designation (or in final stages of completion). 710 years of progressive accounting or financial operations experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of ASPE, financial reporting, and internal control design. Proven experience in process improvement, automation, and systems integration. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Dext, and advanced Excel/Google Sheets. Familiarity with SQL, Python, or VBA is a strong asset. Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills able to balance strategy with handson execution. Benefits Competitive Salary: $90,000$120,000, commensurate with experience.
