Overview Principal Biostatistician (Rshiny - EMEA & US BASED) at Syneos Health. This role requires expertise in R/Shiny and biostatistics within a global context. Job Responsibilities Submit all CVs in English. Be located in US, UK, Ireland, Poland, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Belgium, Romania, Ukraine, South Africa, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, or Columbia. Set up and maintain an excellent R-based computing environment; add features to apps and fix bugs in existing apps. Screen the market for data visualization tools and integrate internal/external apps into the working environment. Organize and perform user trainings; provide user support on demand; stay up to date with latest technical possibilities. Possess excellent R and R-Shiny knowledge with thorough experience in clinical data structures and programming with data; expert in functional and object-oriented programming. Knowledgeable in Javascript/Typescript, HTML, WebGL; experience in CUDA/GPU programming, cloud computing, GitHub, web-hosting; strong communication skills; able to work independently and collaboratively. Serve as statistical department resource; mentor biostatisticians; develop training plans/materials; conduct training sessions and enhance skills of staff. Direct activities of biostatistics personnel on projects to ensure timely, high-quality work; provide independent reviews of project work. Provide support across all statistical tasks during the project lifecycle (protocol to CSR). Prepare or oversee Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs) with well-presented tables, listings and figures; collaborate with sponsor as required. May act as Lead Biostatistician for protocol statistics, randomization schedules, and input to the clinical study report. Create or review programming specifications for analysis datasets, tables, listings, and figures. Review SAS annotated CRFs, database design, and study documentation to ensure data capture meets protocol criteria for a high-quality database and analysis. Implement company objectives; address business and operational challenges with alternative solutions. Represent biostatistics on project teams; interface with other departmental representatives. Prepare in advance for internal meetings; contribute ideas and respect others opinions. Verify and quality-control project deliverables to ensure alignment with SAP and specifications. May lead complex projects (e.g., submissions, integrated analyses) and attend/regulatory meetings as needed to support statistical analysis results. Manage scheduling and timelines across multiple projects; set goals, estimate time, adapt to changes, and communicate risks to management. Monitor progress against milestones; escalate out-of-scope tasks as needed. Provide statistical programming support as needed. May participate in DSMB/DMC activities, act as independent non-voting statistician, or voting statistician where applicable. Provide input and follow SOPs, WIs, and regulatory guidelines (e.g. ICH). Maintain organized, up-to-date project documentation and verification/quality control artifacts for inspection readiness. Collaborate with others to meet business needs; contribute to proposals, budgets, sponsor bid defenses, and other business development activities. Perform other duties as assigned; minimal travel may be required. Qualifications Previous RShiny experience is required. PhD or MS in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics or data science with strong computing/informatics emphasis. At least two years of experience as a statistician in the Pharma/biotech sector or similar. Excellent R and R-Shiny knowledge; thorough experience in clinical data structures and programming with data; expert in functional and object-oriented programming. Knowledgeable in Javascript/Typescript, HTML, WebGL; experience in CUDA/GPU programming, cloud computing, GitHub, web-hosting. Strong communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; team player; fluency in English.
