Location & Hours Location: Edmonton, AB - Hybrid Role (Flexible onsite schedule). Working Hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM MST, Monday to Friday (40 hours/week). Core hours align with North American operations with flexibility to coordinate with Australian operations. Responsibilities Network Operations & Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, wireless) across geographies; configure and optimize Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, and Ubiquiti/UniFi devices; manage cloud networking in Azure and AWS; monitor, analyze, and plan capacity; drive network segmentation and routing improvements; work with carriers to optimize circuits; support VOIP and enterprise telecom systems. Infrastructure & Systems Support: Administer on-premises Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL Server); support hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS); assist with modernization projects (server/virtualization, storage, backup like Veeam); integrate network services with systems infrastructure; troubleshoot escalated incidents; collaborate with application teams for secure connectivity. Security & Compliance: Configure firewall rules, routing, and access controls; apply network/security best practices (segmentation, MFA, least privilege); coordinate with cybersecurity teams on threats, remediation, and security platforms; review logs and support security assessments and remediation. Disaster Recovery & Continuity: Develop disaster recovery strategies; implement redundancy; test failover and recovery processes; participate in DR exercises; align IT continuity with business requirements. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain network/infrastructure documentation and diagrams; mentor teammates; build knowledge base; ensure governance and repeatable processes; contribute to workshops and training. Qualifications Bachelors degree in computer science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5-8 years of enterprise networking and infrastructure experience. Certifications such as CCNP, Fortinet NSE, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Networking, MCSA/MCSE, or ITIL v4 are assets. Strong expertise with Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, Ubiquiti/UniFi, and Azure networking. Proficiency in routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPN technologies. Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, Windows Server, and Active Directory. Knowledge of virtualization, modern backups, and enterprise storage administration. Experience with VOIP/telecom setup and support is an asset. Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills; strong communication and cross-team collaboration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Technical Expertise and Skills Enterprise networking technologies: Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, Ubiquiti/UniFi (firewalls, switches, APs). Network protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, QoS. Cloud networking in Azure and AWS (VMs, storage, security). Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy. Enterprise storage (SAN, iSCSI, RAID). VOIP and telecom support; familiarity with security tools and practices. Documentation of designs, diagrams, and SOPs for handoff.
