Join to apply for the Operations Technician role at Nijhuis Saur Industries UK and Ireland Summary: As part of a dedicated team, the Water Treatment Plant Operator will work on a day shift basis and be responsible for safely and successfully operating and monitoring the electrical, mechanical, instrument and process equipment at a brand new Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) located within the site of an internationally recognised customer. The Water Treatment Plant Operator will monitor and control the plant and implement any necessary operational changes, prepare the plant for Planned Maintenance tasks, and maintain analytical data in a computer-based system to record plant performance. The operator will carry out first line preventative maintenance on the equipment with the support of a Computerised Maintenance Management System, including tasks such as cleaning process instruments, changing over duty pumps and ensuring assets are in good condition. All necessary training will be provided. Most work will be dayshift Monday Friday, but the operator may work outside these hours if required and will provide on-call plant cover responding to alarms and attending site out of hours. Duties And Responsibilities Work within the client and company Quality, Health & Safety & Environment (QHSE) systems Take visible ownership of HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and internally Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and internally Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, company employees and sub-contractor staff Innovate in the workplace to deliver Continuous improvement and exploit opportunities Identify faults, identify solutions and carry out basic repairs Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site Carry out daily laboratory water analysis and promptly report any deviations to Site Management and Technical Team Utilise plant information to identify changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems and evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition Develop and maintain good housekeeping practices Work unsupervised with a proactive attitude Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other company staff Undergo training as required and identify training needs Lead by example Take on additional responsibilities as the company may reasonably require Required Skills/Qualifications Ability and knowledge to complete basic repairs and maintenance A working knowledge of running electro-mechanical plant Computer literate NVQ Level 2 Nijhuis will welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate willingness to develop into the role as well as experienced applicants Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable) Experience of working directly with sub-contractors Ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant Operational and maintenance knowledge of wastewater treatment plant Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment plants Training in Environmental Health and Safety Time served Technician/Fitter/Electrician/Mechanic Working For Us Means Salary Banding Up to 34,000 (DOE) Hours of Work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Standby - 25 per day. Will be expected to be on standby 1 in 4 Overtime paid at 1.5x.
