Your Opportunity One Permanent Full-Time Position as a Sr. Gas Trader involves managing the gas portfolio strategy, achieving trading targets, and working closely with the power trading teams. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, experience in natural gas trading, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure situations. You will contribute by: Working towards delivering $500-$800M of annual AESO portfolio EBITDA, including incremental trading targets of $15M to $30M/year Proprietary trading across US gas regions Managing approximately 250TJ/d of gas transport to ensure gas deliverability to our assets Modeling North American (and abroad) daily quantitative and fundamental analysis of gas markets, locational basis, transport, storage, weather, etc., to support Canadian and US T&O Taking analytics, experience, and other key factors into account to formulate and analyze portfolio strategy to optimize risk and return Ensuring strategy-based coordination across the portfolio (Real-Time, Cash, Term, Asset, Structured Products) Valuing and pricing of Origination deals Running daily P&L models Proactively communicating market and portfolio changes to leadership Consolidating innovative recommendations into implementation plans, providing practical solutions aligned with the organizations vision Assisting in the evolution and execution of the Long-Term Hedging Plan (2-10+ years) Sharing knowledge about pipeline toll structures and market changes Supporting portfolio commercial interests and business development initiatives Collaborating effectively within the team and supporting corporate values Monitoring all applicable risk, credit, and process policies Providing input into regulatory files such as AECO and other market items like gas tariff structures What you will bring to the role Education: Bachelors degree in engineering, economics, computer science, finance, or mathematics. Graduate degrees or financial designations like CFA or FRM are preferred. Experience: 5+ years in profitable natural gas trading or gas scheduling, focusing on Henry Hub and AECO markets. Experience with physical gas, asset optimization, structured products, and options. Technical Skills: Portfolio management experience, advanced finance and risk management knowledge, proficiency in MS Office, Python, R, and familiarity with algorithmic methods/machine learning is an asset. Working Conditions: 4-day in-office workweek, with potential for 5 days, odd hours, and weekend work depending on portfolio needs. Additional Details: Position open until filled.
