Overview Consultant, Commercial Property Claims Large Loss (National Scale) role at Intact. The position involves joining our growing Property Large Loss team and handling multi-line complex claims through all distribution channels. What Youll Do Here Manage, investigate, analyze, negotiate and resolve large and complex commercial property claims generally with exposures over $1M or involving specialized loss within Canada and internationally. Engage and manage internal and external counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability and assess damages. Mentor, guide and provide technical advice to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long term succession planning. Train colleagues on complex claims handling. Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned. Provide excellent customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues. Deliver and exceed on key performance indicators related to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control and expense management. Leverage expertise in a continuous improvement environment to support best-practice operations. Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate. Attend settlement conferences and trials, as well as loss locations and client/broker meetings when appropriate. Knowledge of relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position. Undergraduate Degree or CIP designation (asset). Ability to travel as needed.
