We are seeking a Canada Major Projects Leader to join our team. This role is pivotal in establishing, evolving, and advancing our major project delivery capability across the Eco Region. The successful candidate will define and assure the application of leading practices, tools, methodologies, and processes to ensure sustained delivery success for major projects. They will also lead the application of commercial and contractual principles, manage project delivery risks, and ensure legal and contractual protections for GHD interests. Additionally, the role involves providing leadership and support to our Project Management teams through all project phases, from initiation to closeout. Responsibilities Define and assure the application of leading practices, tools, methodologies and processes under the Major Projects Framework for sustained delivery success across the Eco-Region. Define, lead and assure the successful application of relevant commercial and contractual principles on major projects. Identify project delivery risks and provide processes, systems and competency to enable effective risk management. Ensure the approach to legal and contractual risks on major projects protects GHD interests. Maintain and implement a Major Project Leaders roster for the region. Ensure sustained application of processes, systems and people needed to respond to client, market and industry needs, delivering operational and strategic success for the Enterprise. Provide leadership and support to Project Management teams through all project phases. This role may evolve to actively support project delivery over time. Within the Americas PMO Work with the Americas PMO to meet the Enterprises major project delivery needs. Establish, embed and sustain the people, systems and processes for an effective major project delivery capability in Canada. Develop, rollout and implement activities/changes to the major project delivery framework within Americas/Canada. Align with supporting groups and initiatives: Americas PMO, Engineering Design Organization (EDO), Project and Construction Management Service Line, Technical Delivery, Global Delivery, and other corporate initiatives impacting project delivery. Facilitate knowledge management for critical major project delivery artifacts and lessons. Integrate major project processes into the enterprise-wide Project Delivery System to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Involve in key Enterprise-wide PMO focus areas/initiatives as needed. Ensure Americas PMO leadership is aware of regional requirements across Americas/Canada. Within the EcoRegion Establish a sustainable roster for Major Project Leaders (PM, PD, DM/TL) to inform regional leadership decisions. Address regional project delivery risks with appropriate processes and capability. Establish and sustain processes and artifacts for project mobilization, controls, and commercial management for major projects. Provide leadership by defining and socializing project management resources and oversight through all project phases. Establish and monitor major project assurance processes, including periodic reviews. Provide input into recruitment of key major projects staff. Collaborate with regional leadership to socialize, instruct and advance understanding of major project delivery. Serve as a Project Director on select Major Projects and contribute to related governance processes. To the project teams Lead development of resources, artifacts and tools for best-in-class major project delivery. Provide leadership and coaching to ensure application of major project delivery tools across the region. Guide nomination and mobilization of project managers for specific projects. Ensure best practices for Major Project delivery are available and accessible to project teams. Support project leadership through all stages of the delivery lifecycle: mobilization, delivery, performance monitoring, execution guidance, and closeout. Provide ongoing ad hoc support, oversight and guidance for teams delivering major projects. What you bring to the team A Degree in Engineering, Science, or Project Management Professional Qualification P.Eng., and PMP 15+ years of direct experience Recognized project management professional with authority to influence leaders across the region Minimum of 15 years of project management experience leading multi-discipline teams on complex, large-scale projects across multiple countries/regions Experience in projects for public, private and/or industrial clients with consulting engineering/design experience and contracting partners Experience leading infrastructure and engineering projects from planning through design, execution and construction with large-scale projects and fees > $10M and capex > $100M Proven ability to develop and implement project management practices and tools within an infrastructure consulting firm Proven ability to negotiate commercial terms with successful outcomes Strong leadership and staff management skills Knowledge of project delivery contracts and commercial frameworks Ability to make tough decisions in a timely manner Excellent written and oral communication skills Self-awareness of how decisions impact teams and project success Ability to mentor and lead project management professionals and technical staff Equal opportunity As a diverse and inclusive organization, we encourage individual achievement and recognize the strength of a diverse workforce.
