This opportunity provides hands-on experience by collaborating with Field Integrity, Production Engineering, Process Engineering, Static & Rotating Equipment Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Projects groups, exposing you to technical aspects of asset integrity in pressure equipment, piping, tanks, and structural components. You will gain exposure to regulatory standards, industry codes, and corporate practices, and practical experience with engineering tools across diverse equipment types. Joining our team enables you to contribute to safeguarding assets in a dynamic industry and gain meaningful field experience in asset integrity engineering. Key Accountabilities Assist with the writing of engineering assessments for new and existing systems Develop corrosion mitigation and inspection strategies for pipelines, plant equipment and piping systems Review and track Key Performance Indicators to ensure asset integrity targets are being monitored and maintained Provide materials engineering support to ongoing operation, maintenance and new projects Participate in metallurgical failure analysis of failed or damaged components Perform analysis of inspection and failure data and provide engineering recommendations for ongoing repair and mitigation strategies What You Bring To The Role Currently enrolled in a bachelors degree program in Materials Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering Previous integrity engineering related experience; field experience is an asset Physically and mentally fit for work; safety-oriented with leadership and problem-solving skills Valid Class 5 Alberta drivers license or equivalent out-of-province license with reasonably clean driver abstract Pre-employment drug screening is required What We Offer Competitive salary Paid time off during Christmas week and summer Fridays in July and August (Calgary only) Relocation assistance may be available pursuant to Canadian Naturals Student Relocation Policy (students to arrange own accommodations) Volunteer opportunities and participation in initiatives such as the Intern Social Committee Quality camp facilities (Fort McMurray only) Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton (Fort McMurray only) Job Details Job locations: Calgary, AB or Fort McMurray, AB Horizon or Albian Sands Shift schedule: TBD Term lengths: 8 or 12 months Term starts: January or May 2026 Safety sensitive position: Yes All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.
