IT Systems Administrator - Summer Student Job Overview The IT Systems Administrator - Student will assist the Senior IT Manager in providing support services across the organization. This position will be based in Sherwood Park, AB and will be for the summer term from May to August 2025. KEY HIGHLIGHTS Gain hands-on experience in IT systems administration Exposure to construction and project management technology Mentorship and professional development opportunities Responsibilities Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, and hardware. Handle business-critical IT tasks and system improvements, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software to enhance IT infrastructure. Install, configure, and support workstation software, hardware, printers, and phones Analyze staff needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost efficiency and accuracy Design, document, implement, test, and administer systems and networks, ensuring components meet business needs and work together seamlessly. Implement applications and software upgrades and troubleshooting any performance issues Train staff in using software and hardware, and providing technical support when needed Assist in enforcing cybersecurity protocols to safeguard data assets, supporting compliance with organizational privacy policies Administer and monitor cybersecurity training, ensuring all staff complete monthly requirements. Monitor network and computer security policies, escalating issues to ensure the protection of data and electronic communications. Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues. Manage and support construction software systems (e.g., Primavera P6, HCSS, Bluebeam, etc.). Ensure all software and systems are up-to-date, secure, and functioning optimally. Collaborate with the IT team on project planning, system updates, and process improvements. Conduct routine checks to ensure compliance with IT security and data protection policies. Requirements Enrolled in Post-Secondary Studies in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
