While the WSIB's current work environment is hybrid, this role requires the successful applicant to commit to an in-office work arrangement up to 5 days a week beginning in 2026. Salary Grade: 213. Responsibilities Render entitlement/competitiveness decisions related to health care and dental treatment based on legislation, policy, best practices and clinical judgment, and communicate them verbally and in writing. Resolve objections to health care entitlement decisions, manage reconsideration requests, and, if needed, arrange for access and process the objection. Implement health care components of appeals decisions within required timeframes. Conduct assessments and file reviews to support functional recovery case plans, facilitate appropriate recovery actions, and coordinate with health care providers to promote integration of treatment and RTW processes. Review medications to identify issues affecting RTW or worker quality of life; facilitate access to care and clinic referrals; provide information and support to health care providers. Collaborate with case owners, Return to Work Specialists, managers, workplace parties and health care providers on case plan activities and timelines; identify cases at risk of prolonged recovery and develop plans to address obstacles. Conduct appropriate assessments (e.g., triage, intake, discharge) to assist in mitigation strategies and identify clinical, psycho-social, and chronic pain factors that may delay RTW. Educate workers and external providers on RTW best practices, health care guidelines, and the value of RTW in recovery and quality of life goals; inform workers and employers of their rights and responsibilities under health care provisions of the Act. Assess medical/clinical documentation for completeness and timeliness; take action with providers as needed. Act as a clinical resource to internal staff and provide crisis intervention when necessary. Remain current in clinical education through ongoing sessions and provide feedback on trends affecting duration of recovery and RTW. Perform other related duties as required, including participation in business, team, or project activities. Education University undergraduate degree with a nursing specialty, or a diploma/bachelors degree in Nursing recognized by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing as a General Class nurse. Experience At least three years of experience in a clinical environment (e.g., primary health care, occupational health, adult acute/community care).
