Contract | Warehouse Operations | Location Port Coquitlam, BC Overview Were looking for a hands-on, results-driven leader to oversee all aspects of warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping. In this role, youll be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations, while delivering exceptional service to our customers. You'll lead a dedicated team, promote a high-performance culture, and ensure all processes align with company policies and strategic goals. Responsibilities Oversee all warehouse functions including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping Ensure operational accuracy, timeliness, and quality throughout all activities Maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility in compliance with OHSA and safety regulations Implement and sustain Lean warehousing principles and continuous improvement initiatives Manage returns, inventory levels, supply ordering, and stock alerts Ensure proper use and maintenance of WMS, ERP systems, and material handling equipment Lead, coach, and develop warehouse staff to meet individual and team performance goals Oversee staffing levels, scheduling, and overtime to support business needs Conduct 1:1 meetings, set performance expectations, and provide regular feedback Promote a collaborative, safety-focused, and accountable team culture Manage onboarding, training, and certification for all team members, including equipment operation Ensure compliance with DOT, HazMat, and other transportation regulations Enforce safety practices and conduct regular safety audits and training Partner with HR on recruitment, training, performance management, and employee engagement Apply corrective actions fairly and consistently when needed Lead shift meetings to communicate updates and review performance metrics Track and report on key warehouse KPIs including productivity, accuracy, and efficiency Collaborate cross-functionally with logistics, customer service, and corporate teams Serve as the point of contact for carriers, vendors, and customers Manage labor, supply, and equipment expenses within budget Monitor and control overtime and other operational costs Support project execution to meet operational and financial goals Qualifications This is a 12-month contract position. Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 7+ years of distribution/warehouse experience, with 35 years in a supervisory/management role. Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, systems, and Lean principles. Proficiency in WMS, ERP, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team-building skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a hands-on approach. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Work primarily performed in a warehouse environment with seasonal climate changes. Occasional travel may be required for training or company meetings. Physical Demands Frequent standing, reaching with hands and arms, and using hands to handle, feel, or manipulate objects, tools, or controls. Regular walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and occasional crawling. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasional overtime and travel may be required.
