The Opportunity An exciting opportunity awaits a scientifically minded and innovation-driven R&D Scientist ready to make a tangible impact in the food, beverage, and nutrition sectors. Representing a respected industry player known for their client-first solutions, this role offers the chance to play a leading role in the development and commercialization of specialized nutritional products, supplement premixes, and custom blends for various sectors including functional food, sports nutrition, and pet health. Position Description In this important position you will be a core contributor within a collaborative product innovation team and will take ownership of research, formulation, and development projects from early concept to market-ready solution. Your contributions will directly influence the success of a growing product portfolio designed to meet customer needs across North America. Drive new product development initiatives from formulation through to commercialization, with a particular focus on supplement and premix solutions. Lead and support R&D projects tied to customized nutrition, fortified food and beverage products, and companion animal applications. Collaborate closely with product managers, commercial teams, procurement, and technical services to align R&D activities with broader business strategies. Support product lifecycle improvements including cost optimization, ingredient substitutions, and enhancements to flavor, nutrition, or shelf stability. Prepare prototypes, conduct ingredient match projects, and assist in troubleshooting technical challenges for both internal teams and clients. Partner with technical application teams to develop customer-facing presentations, trials, and concept showcases. Engage in marketing and sales support activities such as trade shows, market research, and trend analyses to help guide innovation pipelines. Serve as a mentor to other scientists on the team and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Ensure product documentation, regulatory compliance, and QA/QC integration throughout the development process. Experience Minimum of 23 years of hands-on experience in product development within the food, beverage, or nutritional supplement sectors. Qualifications Exposure to vitamin, mineral, or sports nutrition formulation is highly valued. Comfortable working across functions and presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in documenting specifications, cost estimates, and trial outcomes. A natural collaborator with strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in both customer-facing and lab-based environments. Familiarity with commercialization processes, nutrient testing, and regulatory standards such as GMP and HACCP. Masters degree (or equivalent) in Food Science or a related scientific field is a strong asset.
