Camp Counsellor Job Title: Male/Female Camp Counsellor Based at: Camp Hope Salary: $1200 per Month (Room and Board included) Start date: June 23rd, 2025 Contract Position: ending August 22nd, 2025 OUR MISSION Because of the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ, Hope Mission exists to serve the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those in search of help, healing, and hope. OUR FACILITY Camp Hope is located on 100 acres of forest 20 minutes west of Calgary along the Elbow River. We offer 6-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-17. Activities include archery, obstacle courses, bike trails, survival guides, wide games, and more! JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible, along with up to 1-2 other counsellors, for the supervision, engagement, program facilitation, and spiritual development of a cabin group of seven to nine campers. You will get the chance to be a role model to these kids while participating in a variety of camp activities. See these campers grow as they conquer the low ropes course, learn how to shoot an arrow with safety and precision in archery, hike a mountain trail, run chase and cheer in a wide game, laugh until your sides hurt during camp improv and so much more. As much as it is a job, it is a great camp ministry and growing experience we strive to provide for you as our staff. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Supervision, care, and engagement of a group of 7-9 campers accompanied by another 1-2 staff Facilitate a Bible study/reflection time for your cabin Participation and leadership in games, challenges, camp rotations, focus skills, Bible times, chapels, campfires, and other activities Behavioral management and de-escalation of campers Sleep in cabins with campers Support activity areas like archery, low ropes courses, bike tracks, ensuring camper safety and engagement Contribute to the overall success of camp operations by helping in various support roles as needed Minimum Qualifications and Skills: Servant leadership attitude Creative problem solving Works well with others in a team environment Flexible, fun, high-energy, and quick thinking/response time Passion for working with Children and Youth Able to live on site in community for 2 months (July and August) Driver's License is an asset Good physical health for wide games, skill building activities, and walking distances Previous camp experience is an asset Other Requirements: Being a Christian Organization, we require our employees to agree with and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.
