Role overview Metallurgist (NOC 21109). In this role, you will be an integral member of the Glencore Canada Growth and Solutions Team under the Glencore Technologies, Special Projects Group. The Growth and Solutions Team forwards business and growth for Glencore Technologies through direct client and stakeholder engagement and the development of processing solutions based on proprietary technologies and processes. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you will train and support site teams with Jameson Cell test work on mine sites and in laboratories, commission technologies, and support the senior solutions metallurgist and clients in planning and interpreting test work. This position supports Glencore Technologys proprietary solutions by delivering test work, commissioning, and technical services. The role acts as a bridge between clients, site teams, and the technical team to ensure accurate implementation and performance of our technologies. Responsibilities Develop, manage, analyze, train, and report on test work programs involving pilot rigs, laboratory, and site-based work. Participate in commissioning programs, site audits, and technical evaluations. Conduct studies/research, analyze and interpret metallurgical data. Provide technical guidance to clients and stakeholders; respond to client inquiries related to metallurgical processes. Develop and maintain relationships with key technology alliance partners; provide remote and on-site support for Jameson Cell operations. Provide support for Glencore operations as needed, including regional visits and best-practice initiatives. Travel primarily to Toronto and client sites; extensive travel to visit laboratory/research and mining sites, with long days on site in remote and extreme conditions (up to 75% travel). Some irregular hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines. Qualifications and experience Bachelors degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 2+ years of experience in metallurgy/mining. Ability to build effective relationships with heads of various business units/teams and project stakeholders (mining industry/operations). Efficient and adaptable communication and interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written English. Experience with operating different mineral processing equipment and troubleshooting equipment problems is an asset. Experience working across processing sites with maintenance, operators, and laboratory teams is preferred. Experience with leaching technologies and Jameson Cell technology is an asset. Additional experience in grinding, stirred milling, and hydrometallurgy is an asset. Work environment and travel Primary work location: Toronto, Ontario. Role requires extensive travel to company and client sites, including laboratory/research facilities and mining sites; up to 75% travel.
