OverviewDirector Pathology & Laboratory Medicine NZNova Scotia Health Authority provides pay ranges and an opportunity to lead PLM Laboratory Services in the Northern Zone. This is a permanent full-time leadership role between the PLM Zone Medical Lead and the Senior Director, focusing on administrative and clinical operations, standardization, quality, and patient-centered laboratory services.About the OpportunityFunctioning in a co-leadership capacity with the PLM Zone Medical Lead, the Director is responsible for the administrative and clinical operations of PLM, and the delivery of high quality, safe laboratory services throughout the Northern Zone. The Director participates in program strategy development and is accountable to the Senior Director for program delivery and continuous improvement within the Zone. The position maintains an indirect matrix reporting relationship with the Zone Executive Director.The Director interacts extensively with clinical and management staff, serving as the principal management point of contact for PLM services within the Zone. The Director collaborates and works consultatively with other PLM staff in the Program to ensure services offered are standardized provincially and comply with laboratory standards and accreditation requirements.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:Undergraduate degree in a health-related discipline, health administration, business administration or related subjectCertified with CSMLS as a Medical Laboratory TechnologistLicensed to practice by the Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory TechnologistsCompletion of a Leadership Management Program, or commitment to complete within defined time period3-5 years of relevant management experience demonstrating progressive accountabilities for financial, strategic and people management to deliver high quality servicesExcellent leadership, organizational and decision skills in support of patient, family and client-centred laboratory servicesExpert knowledge to analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planningStrategic planning and systems thinkingExpertise in financial planningEvidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issuesCritical thinking and analytical problem solvingUnderstanding of project management principles and ability to lead work teamsExperience in leading changeQuality improvement methodologies (e.g. LEAN)Strong presentation and public speaking skillsDemonstrated advanced communication skills and positive public personaAbility to analyze and interpret laboratory statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicatorsKnowledge of lab information systemsCompetencies in other languages are an asset; French preferredPlease ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.HoursPermanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weeklyTravel may be requiredCompensation and BenefitsBase pay range: CA$54.99/hr - CA$73.06/hrSuccessful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.Once You've AppliedThank you for your interest in this position.
