DEA plays a critical role in interpreting, analyzing, and exploiting data using advanced analytical tools and techniques to produce reports and intelligence in support of the Service investigations and operations. DEA also develops business intelligence solutions and supports intelligence assessments. DEA provides reports to senior stakeholders such as the Minister, the Intelligence Commissioner, and the Federal Court while ensuring compliance with policies and legislation. Selecting, aggregating, manipulating, cleaning, and transforming structured and unstructured data; scrutinizing and validating analytical results. Liaising with clients to determine requirements, understand intelligence questions, provide briefings, and advise on appropriate analytical approaches. Developing and maintaining knowledge of analytical tradecraft, methodologies, techniques, and advanced tools, systems, and data sources. Ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and ministerial requirements; contributing to data analytics, policy development, and training. Identifying innovative solutions to enhance existing analytical processes, products, and technical capabilities; recommending new data sources, tools, and analytical capabilities. Contributing to collection and retention of data, policy development and training procedures, and providing recommendations to improve practices and create efficiencies. Education Undergraduate degree and four (4) years of relevant experience. College diploma and five (5) years of relevant experience. Any higher level of education (Masters, Doctorate) in a related field of study is an asset. Experience Experience organizing and exploiting data to create analytical products. Experience with large datasets, including structured and unstructured data. Experience conducting data analysis within specialized data analytic software or with Microsoft Excel using complex formulas, PivotTables, macros, or VBA. Two (2) years of experience in providing written and verbal advice to assist colleagues, clients, and managers in making the best decisions. Two (2) years of experience in analyzing and conveying complex information in plain language to an audience with minimal expertise. Two (2) years of experience in managing projects and tasks organizing, planning, and prioritizing. Experience understanding the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act, the Bank Act, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Document Act, the Security Canada Information Disclosure Act, or the Income Tax Act. Achievement of, or progress towards, a recognized financial designation such as CPA, CFA, CAMS, or CFE. For the unit 4 positions: Experience interpreting details of geospatial data to understand patterns and behaviours to derive conclusions. For the unit 5 positions: Experience in facial recognition analysis, methodologies, and technologies.
