ROLE OVERVIEW As Project Manager you are responsible for managing various sized projects, foremen/women and crews. You will have a strong business sense and a keen eye for detail. Your oversight of these projects will require energy and motivation, with excellent management, communication, and organizational skills. Key Roles Lead by example, give clear direction Direct, support and model safety Quality production, on time, on budget Plan and evaluate, manage change orders Liaise with engineers and owners KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Project Manager is responsible for the following: Manage 1 3 projects at once depending on size Manage 2 4 site supervisors with 4 8 crew per site supervisor Scheduling projects Requisition materials, supplies and review invoices with Site Foreperson, VPConstruction and Construction Manager Producing purchase orders and subcontracts based on quotes Communicate any safety or mechanical issues promptly to Construction Safety Officer As built information Company representative with owners and consultants Weekly level 10 meetings with management and cascade messages to/from direct reports Budgets and accountability for the budget Use HCSS Heavy Job Ensure accurate job data recorded in HCSS Heavy Job and report daily production using HCSS Heavy Job manager Reporting equipment hours and maintenance to Chief Mechanic Shop drawings and submittals Lead by example and identify training where required Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity Ensure the health and safety of all workers under your direct supervision Know the WorkSafeBC requirements that apply to the work under your supervision and make sure those requirements are met. Report client care issues Ensure compliance with Provincial and Federal legal requirements Ensure business in conducted with the highest ethical standards Champion and drive the safety program for employees and subcontractors at all levels KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES The Project Manager will demonstrate the following in their daily work: Knowledge of construction standards and codes Excellent written and verbal communication skills A solid understanding of construction management procedures Problem solving skills Time management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing various duties, while meeting scheduled deadlines. Adept computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and HCSS Heavy Job Manager Capable of initiating and adapting to change Proactive risk management Customer service skills including the ability to communicate effectively with the general public Interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with other Civil Construction and Coastal Mountain Excavations employees QUALIFICATIONS Valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence Minimum 10 years collective Project Management and on-site experience preferred - ideally will possess 10 years of relative experience with civil construction techniques, excavation procedures, safety regulations and project management principles.
