Responsibilities Planning, coordinating, directing and monitoring the effectiveness of all operational activities within the maintenance department. Planning, organising, directing and supervising department team members to perform general routine maintenance, minor repairs, fire safety and scheduled servicing operations to maintain the Long Term Care Community/Retirement Residence in a safe manner. Determining scope of work, receiving cost estimates and referring problems requiring specialised work such as electrical or plumbing to outside contractors and monitoring work performed. Leading an effective recruitment, orientation and performance management process in accordance with the organization standards for all team members within the department. Managing and monitoring all expenditures, explaining monthly variances and working with the Executive Director/General Manager to identify corrective action. Performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications Relevant postsecondary diploma from a community college such as Building Systems. A minimum of 3 years management experience. Health and Safety Certification (level 1 and 2). Knowledge of HVAC equipment, computerized building management systems, electrical systems distribution, fire alarm and sprinkler systems including operation of and testing requirements, emergency diesel generator operations, etc. Ability to read and interpret building prints and drawings. Applicable to British Columbia applicants. Bonus Points WHMIS training considered an asset. Experience in a Care Community and/or Retirement Residence preferred.
