Maintains effective relationships between employee unions, associations at the regional level, and management representatives within the terms of the Collective Agreements and the Canada Labour Code. Handles grievance resolution, focusing on arbitration processes. Promotes the development of productive labour/management relationships to enhance operational, administrative, and service efficiency. Advises the Manager of potential disruptive issues or activities in the labour force and recommends solutions.Job ResponsibilitiesBelow are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Specialist, Labour Relations (Field):Provides Labour Relations services in a highly labour-intensive, mechanized, and politically sensitive environment, with a large number of employees represented by various unions and bargaining agents.Offers expert advice, guidance, and support to business partners on the interpretation, application, and administration of Collective Agreements and policies. Assists with handling grievances, conciliation, or arbitration cases, including presenting or supporting arbitration proceedings.Consults with regional union and management representatives on working conditions, disciplinary issues, and problem resolution.Manages grievance procedures after the first level to ensure timely resolution of employee concerns.Administers the grievance management system (GMS), ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping.Coordinates regional consultations, grievance management, arbitration, and WCB appeals, aligning with Head Office policies and practices.Maintains a network of internal and external contacts to stay current on labour relations trends, participating in HR associations and promoting the organizations brand.QualificationsEducationUniversity degree in Industrial Relations or related field, or equivalent experience including courses in Labour Relations.Experience1 to 3 years of relevant experience; experience in a unionized environment is an asset.Other Candidate RequirementsKnowledge of Labour Relations, HR, Mail Operations, Collection and Delivery, Marketing, and Retail Operations; familiarity with the Canada Labour Code, collective agreements, health and safety programs, WCB processes, and provincial labour regulations.Additional InformationSafety Sensitive Positions: This position may be considered safety sensitive.Employment Equity: Canada Post promotes diversity and encourages applications from women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, and visible minorities.
