Overview / Aperu du poste Director, Health and Safety will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing Occupational Health and Safety Programs across ChangeMakers (the Company) with special focus on the First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordans Principle Claims Helper Program (the Program). The main duties include working with senior leadership, employees and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies, policies and approaches that position the Company and the Program as a safe workplace using trauma-informed and culturally safe practices, that will protect individuals and the organization, reduce lost time due to injuries and illnesses, and improve productivity. The role ensures compliance with external health and safety bodies and provides support to internal teams regarding provincial and territory labour laws and health and safety regulations, including claims, accident reporting, and compliance with relevant legislation. Key Responsibilities / Responsabilits principales Lead the design and deployment of comprehensive safety programs founded on data analysis and industry best practices that are trauma-informed and culturally safe. Foster and maintain a health and safety culture across all levels by developing clear policies, procedures, and processes that are practical and actionable in day-to-day operations through leadership and employee engagement. Ensure compliance with external health and safety bodies and provide support to internal teams on provincial/territory labour laws and regulations, including claims, accident reporting and compliance with relevant legislation. Act as a liaison between the company and provincial/territorial health and safety bodies for ongoing claims management. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and integrate strategies across the organization. Investigate incidents and accidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Perform additional tasks such as workplace inspections and audits, workers claims and return to work, and emergency response and preparedness. Required Skills and Competencies / Aptitudes et comptences requises Must have: Bachelors Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or related field with knowledge of OH&S legislation (e.g., OHSA, WSIA, OHRC, AODA) and applicable codes and standards. Proven experience in developing, implementing and managing progressive health, safety and wellbeing programs. Experience applying project and change management principles to Health & Safety initiatives. Experience in health and safety for community-based programs (e.g., mobile social workers, personal support workers). Lived or work experience with Indigenous communities is preferred. Strong communication, problem-solving and leadership skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to travel. Valid drivers license. Nice to have / Qualits souhaitables Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or working towards it. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset.
