Water/Wastewater Utility Operation and Maintenance Supervisor Description: This position manages the water distribution system, wastewater collections system and maintenance compliance units; coordinates work with other departments and private contractors; plans, organizes, directs and assigns maintenance repair activities; schedules and assigns work to crews and inspects progress; maintains records and files; prepares reports; and performs related tasks as required. Requirements: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, environmental science or a related field and five years of experience in municipal or industrial wastewater treatment, laboratory operations, or wastewater system inspection which includes one year in a supervisory capacity. Must possess and maintain a North Carolina Wastewater Treatment Plan Operator Grade II certification or higher, Grade III Collection System Operator license or higher, and Grade A Distribution License. Will accept lower levels of licensure with the understanding that appropriate certifications must be obtained within first year of employment in this position. Compensation: The hiring range for this position is $61,138-$77,414. Halifax County provides a comprehensive employee benefits package, including membership to the N.C.
