Core Function Assists the Director in coordinating a highquality nursing care service that complies with relevant government legislations, policies and standards, and reflects the organization's residentcentered approach, vision and strategic direction. Responsibilities Assists the Director in coordinating high quality nursing services Coordinates staff recruitment exercise to ensure adequate staffing to meet the needs of the Nursing Department Ensures compliance of staff scheduling policies and procedures Oversees resident care of the assigned units including monitoring, communication with residents, families and prompt intervention Coaches, develops, evaluates and appropriately deploys staff to ensure a strong, effective and efficient team with good morale Assesses training needs of the department, and coordinates staff development programs, including orientation, inservice and certificate programs for the professional and nonprofessional nursing staff to ensure a strong, effective and efficient team Provides leadership and coordinates the RAIMDS, CQI, Infection Prevention & Control, Restorative programs, and Health and Safety programs, as assigned, in the Department Reviews policies and procedures relating to nursing and resident care and health and safety issues, and recommends changes to the Director as necessary Coordinates and ensures accurate and uptodate information management system for the Department Coordinates special programs or projects as assigned Implements effective risk management and quality improvement programs, including infection control, occupational health and safety, incidents and falls, etc. Acts as back up to the Director of Resident Care in his/her absence Works closely with the other Assistant Director of Resident Care, and acts as his/her backup when required Keeps uptodate with developments and best practices in the field Other duties as assigned Qualifications Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario; Bachelors degree in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 4 years nursing experience, including experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and Long Term Care Nursing, and three years supervisory experience in hospital or long term care Current CPR Certificate Strong leadership and administrative skills Satisfactory Police Reference Check (with vulnerable sector screen) result Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, and fluency in Chinese; understanding of Japanese is an asset Physical Demands / Working Conditions Light Normal Occasional travel Benefits Multiemployer pension plan Ongoing learning and development Employee education assistance program Safe, inclusive and supportive work environment Seniority Level Associate Employment Type Fulltime Job Function Education Hospitals and Health Care Yee Hong is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive, barrierfree recruitment and selection process.
