For more information on NorQuest, please visit our website: THE OPPORTUNITY The Director of Advancement at NorQuest College reports to the Vice President, External Relations and serves as a strategic, visionary leader responsible for driving all philanthropic fund development, donor relations, and alumni engagement initiatives, including oversight of the transformational NorQuest 2030 Comprehensive Campaign and the 1000 Women movement. Leading a high-performing Advancement team, the Director cultivates major, principal, and transformational gift donors, fosters long-term alumni and community relationships, and elevates the Colleges profile across Alberta and beyond. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Director aligns advancement strategies with the Colleges mission of inclusive, workforce-relevant education and is accountable for generating and diversifying philanthropic revenue to support capital priorities, student success, and academic innovation. As a public-facing ambassador, the Director builds strong relationships with donors, alumni, industry and community, while also collaborating closely with NorQuests faculty and leadership to advance institutional goals. RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership Lead the development, execution, and evaluation of NorQuest Colleges comprehensive fund development strategy, including the NorQuest 2030 Campaign. Set strategic priorities for fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship, and alumni engagement, driving measurable impact across the institution. Foster a culture of innovation, equity, diversity, inclusion and Indigenization within the Advancement team. Major Donor Cultivation and Stewardship Cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors ($1M+). Serve as the primary relationship manager for key stakeholders and campaign committees. Ensure donor recognition, transparency, and accountability through personalized engagement strategies. Alumni and Donor Engagement Advance alumni and donor programs that build meaningful, long-term connections to NorQuest. Utilize data-driven insights to enhance engagement strategies and maximize philanthropic impact. Operational Oversight Oversee Advancement operations, including the NorQuest College Foundation, revenue tracking, reporting, and donor relations processes. Ensure compliance with fundraising policies, ethical standards, and reporting requirements. Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to Advancement staff, fostering professional growth and accountability. Stakeholder Collaboration and Representation Collaborate with internal stakeholders (faculty, staff, and administration, executive and board) and external partners (industry, government, and community) to align fundraising efforts with institutional priorities. Serve as a public-facing ambassador for NorQuest College within philanthropic, post-secondary, and business communities. Represent the College at events, conferences, and meetings to strengthen relationships, promote initiatives, and enhance the Colleges reputation. FIRST YEAR MEASURES OF SUCCESS Deliver a comprehensive advancement strategy aligned with institutional priorities, including philanthropy and alumni relations. Launch and mobilize the Capital Campaign Cabinet Committee, execute the campaign plan, and secure initial donor commitments. Foster a psychologically safe, inclusive, and high-performing team culture. Establish relationships with key donors, alumni, 1000 Women Committee and community members, Capital Campaign Committee members, and community at large. THE INDIVIDUAL Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving institutional goals and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes: Education A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field is required; a Masters degree is preferred. CFRE designation is preferred. Membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is preferred. Commitment to ongoing professional development in fundraising and leadership is required. Experience Minimum 710 years of progressive leadership experience in fund development, preferably within post-secondary or non-profit sectors. Proven track record in major gifts, campaign leadership, alumni engagement, and external relations. Demonstrated competencies in strategic planning, relationship building, team leadership, budget management, and communication. Deep connection to and knowledge of the Edmonton philanthropic and business community is highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Fundraising Expertise In-depth knowledge of major gifts, planned giving, annual campaigns, corporate partnerships, and donor stewardship strategies. Relationship Management Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with donors, alumni, corporations, foundations, and community partners. Strategic Planning & Execution Skilled in developing and implementing comprehensive advancement strategies aligned with institutional priorities.
