This is a senior hands-on engineering position in the new product design group in Toronto. The incumbent must be a self-starter and a fast learner. He/she works well in a team environment. He/she must be familiar with Design for Assembly to achieve high cost effectiveness and functionality. Knowledge in the design of pressure sensors, electric motors, solenoid valves, heat exchangers, gas/fluid handling components and production methods using plastic injection molding, aluminum casting and machining round out this position. Previous experience with component design using AutoCAD with a medium or mass production electrical appliance manufacturer will be an asset. Job Description: Responsible on a day-to-day basis for the specifying, designing, testing, purchasing and manufacturing of electro-mechanical components used in the Controls Module in Ionadas Carbon Capture Plants. Interact with design team members, service personnel and management on design decisions. Develop design specifications, design, source/purchase electro-mechanical components, control panels, motor controls and sub-assemblies. Develop test plans, carry out testing, analyze test results, suggest improvements and document test results Rationalize buy/build decisions on control devices Interact, negotiate, qualify control suppliers on control components Establish, track and maintain projects regarding control components and strategy projects Establish, consult, investigate and propose control strategies for the specified equipment. Assist and contribute to the certification process Implement new products into production and participate in the ECN (Engineering Change Notice) process Qualifications: 5 -10 years appropriate experience in electro-mechanical component design and manufacturing for specialty equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in some of the following areas: Design electric motors, high pressure solenoid valves, programmable logic controls, pressure/temperature sensors, quick disconnects etc. Experience in certification of electro-mechanical components Instrumentation experience to measure flow, pressure, temperature, gas compositions and moisture Project management and reporting using project management software Implement new products into production Power distribution for containerized processes and grid / end user connection methods.
