KPMG Laws Tax Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice assists companies and individuals in achieving timely and fair resolutions in various tax disputes. Our team is involved at every stage of the tax dispute process, from prelitigation to litigation before provincial and federal courts and tribunals. What You Will Do As a vital member of our Tax Litigation & Dispute Resolution team, you will actively participate in all stages of the dispute process, collaborating closely with partners, associates, paralegals, and administrative support to assist our clients throughout their dispute resolution journey. Draft responses to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), assist with and prepare supporting documentation Prepare correspondence and draft legal documents such as lists of documents, affidavits, undertakings, charts, transcript summaries, and other documentation as required Manage the preparation and filing of courtrelated materials, including Books of Documents, Books of Authorities, and motion materials Coordinate and assist with preparation for meetings, discoveries, trials, and other related tasks as needed Attend and provide support at discoveries, hearings, and client meetings, as required Communicate with clients, the CRA, courts, and related parties, maintaining a high level of professionalism and a clientfocused approach Oversee and optimize eDiscovery processes, including managing workspaces, document production, objective coding, document review, and workflow development, while actively monitoring and adapting to changes and trends in eDiscovery tools, practices, and related industry advancements Handle file and case management tasks, including organizing materials, tracking deadlines, and proactively identifying next steps to move matters forward effectively Contribute to the refinement of best practices for the paralegal/law clerk role, including offering input on process improvements, staying informed on updates to Court Rules, Acts, and related legislative or procedural changes, and integrating these updates into workflows to ensure compliance and operation efficiency What You Bring To The Role Hybrid Structure: This is a hybrid role (inoffice and work from home). Candidates must prioritize client and file deadlines and attend the office weekly as necessary. Education and Credentials: Paralegal degree/diploma, law clerk diploma, or equivalent qualification with law clerk or paralegal experience. Experience: A minimum of 8 years of direct experience in tax disputes/litigation, strong knowledge of the Tax Court, Federal Court, and Federal Court of Appeal, familiarity with CRA processes and procedures, and advanced knowledge of eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity, Ringtail/Nuix, or similar tools. Skills and Attributes Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills for proactively managing competing deadlines and tasks. Strong written and oral communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and an ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with discretion. Selfmotivation, autonomy, and initiative with a proven track record of effectively driving work forward independently. Ability to collaborate well as part of a team. Professional and clientfocused demeanor, with a commitment to achieving high standards. Interest in eDiscovery and technology advancements within the legal field.
