Responsibilities Second level of the Stores entry level of the Stores Technician series. Under general supervision, performs standard stores and/or mailroom operation duties. The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of the responsibility involved in this position. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated. Flexibility of the employee to perform a wide variety of functions is necessary in successfully fulfilling the requirements of this position. The degree to which each employee performs each of the following tasks will vary according to where and when the employee is scheduled to work. loads and unloads documents, material and equipment; sorts, organizes and stores all items in appropriate areas as assigned delivers by driving or walking documents, materials and equipment to appropriate areas as assigned identifies items requiring special or urgent delivery or special treatment and handles accordingly receives incoming documents materials and equipment, ensures correctness to standard and matches material with appropriate paper work and/or purchase orders; informs supervisor in the event of problems such as damaged materials, undeliverables; redirects damaged and undeliverable goods in accordance with established departmental protocols refers customer complaints to supervisor/manager processes incoming and outgoing materials using tracking, metering, charging and packaging protocols properly records items received based on departmental protocols; maintains appropriate files and/or computerized inventory system performs cleaning duties within stores and/or mailroom area performs periodic and annual inventory count may drive, operate and maintain vehicle/forklift in making deliveries responds to customer inquiries regarding product details (e.g. unit size), drop off and pick up timelines other related duties as required Minimum Requirements for Selection Education: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; related post-secondary education is preferred Experience: One year of related experience is preferred Other: Possession and maintenance of a valid provincial class 'G' drivers license; physical ability to perform required duties including frequent and steady heavy lifting; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written); basic computer skills; forklift certificate. Interpersonal and customer service skills. Willingness to be trained. Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy. Basic product knowledge and familiarity with units of measure. Ability to learn Canada Post Corporation regulations. Ability to efficiently and accurately sort and organize documents, materials and equipment. Ability to follow handling protocols and requirements. Ability to learn campus layout and delivery points. Familiar with warehouse distribution practices. Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written); demonstrated ability to provide basic information regarding products and departmental protocols.
