Join to apply for the Manager Risk & Resilience role at Canada Life Permanent Full Time The Manager, Risk & Resilience is a key role supporting the development and execution of operational risk and resilience practices within the first line of defense. This role is responsible for enabling strong risk management and operational resilience capabilities across the business unit. A strategic thinker and effective collaborator, the Manager will work closely with business leaders to embed risk awareness, support the implementation of risk change programs, and enhance the overall control environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the identification, assessment, and management of operational risks, while also supporting business continuity and resilience planning. This role plays a critical part in strengthening risk culture and ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide risk and resilience strategies. What You Will Do Lead team to develop a good understanding of business and provide risk advice to businesses Plan and perform risk assessments and operational reporting Build and maintain BU specific operational risk library Manage and oversee implementation of risk change programs Identify processes and process data for process inventory management Facilitate process mapping by the Central 1B team Advise the business on process and control improvements Identify risk treatment (mitigate/ control, avoid, transfer, accept) Manage issues, events and incidents Develop and maintain BU specific risk & resilience metrics Manage BU level risk & resilience reporting Support 1B Lead in developing BU specific risk & resilience policies and procedures Support Central 1B with critical operations mapping leveraging the Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Business Recovery Planning (BRP), Application/Technology Recovery Planning (TRP) and Supplier Governance to ensure simplification and alignment with the strategic plan of Enterprise Resilience overall Support the rollout of new operational resilience technologies Plan and manage operational controls testing Market Conduct Coordination Coordinate advisor market conduct items including coordination of the quarterly meetings Ensure the communication of results and all execution items are delivered What You Will Bring Post-secondary education or equivalent level of training or experience 5+ years of overall experience 3+ years of risk & resilience management or governance experience within the financial services industry Excellent communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions and provide training on risk and resilience topics Proven ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business solutions Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with compliance management systems and risk assessment tools is an asset As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism is an asset (fluent in French and English) but is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients with French and English-speaking needs The base salary for this position is between $84,900 - $155,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation (i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
