Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures safe work practices and procedures. Responsible for the application and formulation of the Companys Health and Safety program and ensuring all employees have an opportunity to learn elements of the safety program. Performs safety audits. Ensures that all employees are trained in job requirements before permanent assignment. A team of around 20 people. Searches for new material to update training for all employees. Ensures implementation of Company training programs and development of departments personnel. Informs subordinators of performance expectations. Monitors and evaluates performance and coaches, as necessary. Interviews, reviews qualifications, selects and recommends employment candidates. Ensures compliance with regulations and Company policies. Ensures the usage of corrective measures/discipline on violations. Defines department Quality Standards and ensures all employees are aware of standards and new requirements. Ensures ISO procedures are current and adhered to for the department. Support troubleshooting and failure analysis to prevent recurrence of problems. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Be an active safety champion for his area and the plant, complying with all safety rules and promote a safe workplace. Follow maintenance plans and help development and improvement of Melt Shop Maintenance system. Determines the repairs required, using reports and schedules, determines work schedules, plans shutdown and repairs. Reports and investigates all accidents with an aim to prevent reoccurrence. Conducts monthly safety meetings and makes safety observations. Ensures that each employee is trained on their job. Complete training checklists as soon as training is completed. Informs employees of expectations. Assigns tasks, communicates work schedule and deadlines, set and defines priority, reports on delays. Initiates preventive/corrective actions to meet deadlines. In coordination with his supervisor attempts to settle concerns/interpretation disputes at his own level and applies provisions of the Collective agreements. Ensures daily shift reports are entered to detail all work completed by the department. Ensures timekeeping is updated and approved on a weekly basis. Responsible for calling employees for overtime and keeping records of calls made. Will be put into the Electrical on-call rotation. Enforces, collaborates and is a model for working with other trades to create a common goal of improved reliability. SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS Qualified and Red Seal certified trades people would be considered an asset. Bachelors in Electrical Engineering would be considered an asset. Previous planning experience in heavy industry would be considered as an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., D-365, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), WMS, TMS & Power BI would be considered an asset. Strong analytical, organizational skills and coordinating abilities Ability to work under Pressure Problem solving skills Excellent communication, leadership and supervision skills Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively Bilingual: English and French (oral and written) #J-18808-Ljbffr
