One Floral Group is a wholesale flower producer that provides tailored floral solutions to retail customers throughout North America and is one of the fastest growing producers of floral products. Our business has over five million square feet of growing and production space in more than six facilities in three different climate zones. We have the ability to grow and build a variety of products, including potted plants and planters, outdoor lawn and garden plants, and vegetable propagation in the best conditions. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities. The Controller will lead all daytoday finance operations and supervise a team of five staff members including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Controller will ensure that the Organization has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless monthend and annual year end audits. The Controller will work closely with leaders and their staff, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support the operations. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a mature leader with three to five years of Controller experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders. Education and experience required Postsecondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration. Minimum 3 years of experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller role. Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards. Proven experience managing audits, budgeting, reporting, payroll, and fullcycle accounting functions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Business Central is an asset. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problemsolving skills with the ability to interpret financial data strategically. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to nonfinancial audiences. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to organizational goals. Primary Responsibilities Finance and Accounting Leadership Oversee all accounting operations, including ledgers, financial reporting, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards. Develop, implement, and maintain accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and accounting systems. Recommend and ensure adherence to internal financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. Manage all aspects of financial accounting, including cash management, accounts payable/receivable, credit control, fixed assets, and payroll. Maintain complete and accurate supporting documentation for all financial transactions. Reconcile bank and investment accounts; prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts. Analyze financial data and provide clear, timely reports on the organizations financial position to senior leadership and the CFO. Lead the budgeting and planning process; monitor variances and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate monthend and yearend close processes, annual audits, and ensure timely financial compliance. Prepare special financial analyses and reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Manage and safeguard organizational cash flow and invested assets in line with company policy. Maintain CPA designation and ensure compliance with accounting and professional standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals. Maintain financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; plan, monitor and appraise performance reviews on regular basis. Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
