Purpose of the job Purpose of this position is to perform software programming and electrical debugging activities in Mpac Langen Americas. As the technical lead, in direct collaboration with the Project Manager, this role is responsible for software programming and electrical debugging activities on Mpac Langen machinery, ensuring that all projects assigned are delivered ontime, onbudget, and to the specifications stated in the order. Primary responsibilities Preparing machines for debugging phase and FAT phase Powering the machines up after wiring Checking electrical wiring, verifying that I/Os are properly wired Debugging electrical circuits to ensure they perform according to design Working with the wiring team to solve any wiring issues Testing all circuits and approving machine for debugging Setting up all servos, VFDs, and other components Providing programming support during customer FAT Providing programming and electrical support for the setup and testing of all ancillary equipment (laser printers, bowl feeders, etc.) Loading program into PLC and performing basic programming tasks on standard components Supporting installation technicians during commissioning of new machines Traveling to customer sites to provide electrical debugging support during new machine installations Preparing Ladder logic design patches for projects in installation/commissioning phase Marking/updating schematics as required during debugging and commissioning Debugging and testing machines to fulfill intended machine function specified by project Supporting Project Managers and Operations managers during project execution to minimize time and cost impact of design modifications during debugging Providing support to electrical wiring teams on issues related to wiring schematics and special ancillary equipment Adhering to all established work instructions and the Employee Handbook Maintaining complete adherence to the company safety rules on the floor and when visiting customers Developing offline program for machines or machine functions Secondary responsibilities Supporting customers by providing advice on electrical/programming matters Contributing to Mpac Langen Electrical Standards and proposing ideas for improving team efficiency Keeping current with latest industry regulations and codes related to packaging equipment system design and operation Taking other work tasks as needed by team leader Supporting team development and continuous improvement Physical demands This is a mixed position with work performed in an office environment and on the assembly floor depending on the circumstances and priorities of each day Hearing acuity required for safety reasons while on the assembly floor Exposure to high noise from machines operating nearby during visits to the assembly floor Depending on circumstances work is done while sitting down or standing up (debugging on assembly floor) May be required to work with computer for prolonged periods of time and sometimes may be required to work with hand tools assisting other employees Knowledge and skills required Electrical Engineering experience in automation/industrial machinery, high speed packaging machinery experience is an additional asset BSc. or similar Technical Education in Electrical Engineering Good working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical Good working knowledge of current safety standards, including reliable design & PSR legislation in Ontario 58 years experience in electrical automation/industrial machinery, packaging machinery is an additional asset Above average command of office tools such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong command of the English language Desired behavioural competences Behaving ethically ensuring own and team members behaviour is consistent with Mpac Langen standards and values Impact and influence working effectively with and through others where no formal authority exists Achievement motivation results oriented, setting high standards and objectives Communicating effectively speaking, listening and writing in a clear, thorough and timely manner Negotiating presenting positions in a reasoned manner, seeking winwin outcomes but knowing when to say no Team leadership effective at building support, thinking team first, promoting success in terms of team and individual success, and adept at creating a shared vision Decisionmaking assessing situations to determine importance, urgency and risks, and making clear decisions in a timely manner Organizing setting priorities, developing a work schedule, monitoring progress towards goals, and tracking details/data/information/activities Problem solving assessing problematic situations to identify causes, gathering and processing relevant information, generating possible solutions, and making recommendations Handson approach ready to roll up sleeves and stay close to the action Working conditions and environment Travel to customer sites may be required.
