Job Overview We are looking for an energetic, creative and forward-thinking Associate Producer to take on a vital role in our visual storytelling teams. This is an 18 month maternity leave position. Responsibilities Gather, write, and present stories, often on tight deadlines. Chase guests, write and cut clips, provide voiceovers, and prepare broadcast items. Contribute to video, digital, or social media items related to stories gathered. Work on our Supper News program, and collaborate closely with program units. Qualifications University degree or equivalent. A minimum of four years related experience. Demonstrated ability to work within a team. Strong writing and editorial abilities. Excellent critical thinking skills, including knowledge of and familiarity with CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices as well as the legal and ethical issues related to journalism. A strong, proven connection to the communities we serve in Calgary and Southern Alberta, and a deep and nuanced understanding and appreciation of diverse perspectives. Exceptionally strong research and organizational skills. Extensive general knowledge. Extensive knowledge of Calgary and Southern Alberta. Strong on-air presence. Strong and enthusiastic team player. Curious, quick thinking, incisive, and critical thinker. Innovative with programming ideas. Experience using social media to research, develop and source stories. Passionate about both stories and issues. Demonstrated attention to accuracy under time constraints required. Background Check A mandatory Criminal record check.
