Job Overview Unit Clerk - Emergency Department at Alberta Health Services located at Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Healthy Albertans, Healthy Communities. Join our team and make a difference in the lives of patients and families. The Emergency Department is a 69bed department that provides care to patients of varying acuity. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the unit clerk is an essential member of the multidisciplinary team, facilitating communication between health disciplines, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Responsibilities Ensure efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families. Perform a variety of administrative tasks: reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals; maintaining patient records and charts; transcribing and processing physician orders; scheduling patient tests and/or treatments; supporting the unit with other administrative activities. Maintain confidentiality of patient information. Required Qualifications Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program. Additional Required Qualifications Graduate from an approved Unit Clerk College Program. Recent Unit Clerk Experience in an urban emergency department (within the last year). EpicConnect care trained within Emergency ASAP module currently active. Current Referral Management Experience. Proficient computer skills (typing). Good command of English language. Excellent communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with MUSE, SharePoint, SIREN, NetCare, IRequest. Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team. Organizational skills, ability to prioritize and remain calm under stressful situations. Uptodate ACE modules.
