Job Description

Who we are? The Primary Construction Team consists of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc. (ACCIONA) and Amico Major Projects Inc. (Amico), as Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP). What is the project? The Ontario Line (OL) is a fully integrated, stand-alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (NC) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design-build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (EGS) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (PTUS), with supporting Early Works. What is the Opportunity? The Station Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of transit station construction projects. This role involves overseeing the stations construction activities, managing project schedules and budgets, and ensuring that all project objectives are met within the specified timeframe and budget. Development Phase Participate in working group meetings as required. Provide leadership in the development and review of design concepts, ensuring alignment with Project requirements, standards, and specifications. Collaborate with the design team to balance innovation, cost-effectiveness, and constructability in design solutions. Assist in the implementation of value engineering processes to optimize design solutions in terms of cost, schedule, and performance. Collaborate with the Project team to identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency in design and construction. Identify and promote innovative technologies and construction methods that enhance Project efficiency, sustainability, and safety. Assist in development of Construction Management Plan(s). Project Planning and Scheduling: Collaborate with the project team to develop detailed construction schedules for station components, ensuring alignment with the overall project timeline. Regularly review and update construction schedules, identifying critical paths and potential delays. Developing Rail Corridor Access Plan and fulfilling all requirements including MX risk Assessment, MX Work Methodology template, etc. Construction Oversight and Coordination: Collaborate with the project team to assign resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, necessary for station construction. Optimize resource allocation to meet project milestones efficiently. Provide leadership and direction to the construction teams and subcontractors involved in station construction. Monitor day-to-day construction activities, ensuring they comply with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. Coordinate closely with other construction managers overseeing different aspects of the project, ensuring seamless integration of station construction within the overall project framework. Collaborate with the Technical Director to address design-related issues during construction. Quality Control: Oversee a robust quality control program for station construction, ensuring that work meets or exceeds established standards. Participate in regular inspections and audits to identify and address any deviations from project requirements. Safety Management: Champion a strong safety culture on the construction site, enforcing safety policies and procedures. Collaborate with the safety manager and coordinators to conduct regular safety inspections, promote training programs, and ensure compliance with industry safety standards. Contract Management : Work closely with the commercial team to ensure that construction activities align with contractual requirements. Manage relationships with contractors and subcontractors, addressing performance issues and facilitating dispute resolution when necessary. Cost Controls & Reporting: Collaborate with the Project Controls team to monitor construction expenditures, analyzing variances and ensuring adherence to the budget. Provide regular budget reports and forecasts to project stakeholders, as required. Present key construction metrics, milestones achieved, and any challenges faced during construction. Provide regular progress reports on station construction activities to project stakeholders. Change Management: Manage the change order process for station construction, evaluating the impact of changes on schedule and budget. Work with the commercial department to negotiate and finalize change orders in accordance with project procedures. Team Leadership and Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other department leads (Commercial, Project Controls, Financial, Technical) during the delivery of the project. Work collaboratively with the Contracting Authority during all stages of the Project. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the construction team. Foster collaboration among architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to achieve a cohesive and integrated Project delivery. Work Conditions This position is based at the project office daily: Queen St East / Don Mills Area, North York Next to Science Centre. Have the experience of working in Go Corridor and Metrolinx Project. Able to perform in a fast-paced environment. May require working extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet project deadlines. What Youll bring to the Team (Knowledge, Skills, Competencies) Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management in transit stations. Experience with TTC, Metrolinx and Go Corridor Specifications and Standards for Transit Stations. In-depth knowledge of stations construction practices, materials, and relevant local regulations and standards. Proven ability to manage a large projects and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem solving, leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, along with a strong understanding of AutoCAD, Bluebeam and other design tools. A commitment to safety, environment and quality, with a strong attention to detail. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
