To meet our growth challenges, WSP is currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer to join our teams located at any one of our Canadian offices with preference for Calgary, AB, Moncton, NB, Kitchener, ON. Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and estimate design engineering effort on projects from conception to issuance of all drawings and specifications for construction. Assist in the development of proposals. Prepare and review cost estimates, schedules, risk assessment, and elements of project design. Develop project strategy to ensure key issues are identified early and project goals of quality, schedule, and cost are achieved. Interpret project specifications and scope to all engineering disciplines. Review and approve all designs to ensure conformity with project specifications, project scope, company practices, and sound engineering practices. Provide coordination to discipline and support development of their deliverables. Prepare and update engineering control documents. Monitor design changes, contract extras, and support development of change orders. Serve as the main technical contact with the client. Make recommendations on highly technical and complex aspects of WSP projects. Complete feasibility studies and technical report writing. Coach and mentor junior engineers in the development of their skills and training. Mentor other engineers within the project engineering team. Provide professional designation on projects you are engaged in. Develop technical drawings and deliverables such as P&IDs, Line List & DBMs and authentication of deliverables. Develop Scope of Work or Specifications for Mechanical Packaged Equipment. Maintain quality control and quality assurance on projects. Review the work of others. Qualifications Post-graduate in Engineering. P.Eng. or P.Tech. designation. At least 10 to 15 years of previous experience in an EPCM environment in the energy industry with 7-10 years direct project engineering experience. At least 2 years experience as a Project Lead dealing directly with clients and other project stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, acting as main contact with the client. Experience directly dealing with clients coordinating meetings, creating project status reports and dealing with different groups, stakeholders and disciplines. Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines. Proven independent project leader. Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and stay focused in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated skills on concept and developed design optimization programs to guide sound technical guidance for decision making. Knows, understands, and complies with all client and corporate procedures. Demonstrate sensitivity and discretion when working with confidential information. Compensation Salary range (in British Columbia): $113,500 - $156,000. The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
