8882 170 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5T 4J2, Canada Job Description Posted Friday, October 17, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Maintenance, the Attractions Maintenance Manager is responsible for providing leadership, direction, supervision and project management for the daily maintenance, inspections, projects and installations of the rides, equipment, and mechanics as well as has the responsibility of planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the Galaxyland, World Waterpark and other Attractions renovation and construction projects according to schedules, specifications and budgets. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Providing managerial direction, guidance, and maintaining a daily management presence to the Attractions Maintenance Assistant Managers, Supervisors, and skilled tradespersons, ensuring inspections, repairs, safe work practices, and project timelines are completed according to established standards within West Edmonton Malls Attractions. Overseeing the full scope of maintenance operations across West Edmonton Malls Attractions including Galaxyland Amusement Park, World Waterpark, Ice Palace, Marine Life, Eds Bowling, and upcoming developments while collaborating closely with Attractions Management, ride manufacturers, engineers, and internal maintenance, design, and construction teams for ride installations, renovations, and relocations. Coordinating maintenance projects, department meetings, and communications with internal teams, contractors, and external partners; managing contracts, project schedules, budgets, and regulatory compliance to ensure all projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Engaging with Attractions Management, amusement industry professionals, regulatory inspectors, and apply construction expertise to advise on planning strategies and best practices for construction and renovation initiatives. Conducting maintenance-related research, planning, and coordination for major mechanical renovations, upgrades, and new attractions. Overseeing construction and renovation phases including the ongoing Galaxyland renovation and rebranding responsible for business planning, design oversight, cost evaluation, contractor sourcing, contract negotiation, risk management, site inspections, quality assurance, and project documentation and tracking. Establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with both internal partners and external regulatory bodies while ensuring established timeline adherences by contractors, subcontractors, and consultants. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must have minimum 5-7 years of Management/Supervisory level experience within a complex commercial or related working environment that preferable includes an understanding of various mechanical systems such as: rotating equipment, gearbox systems, belts, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ride automation, control systems, etc. Applicants must have a strong working background in a related trade to the position with preference being given to journeyman millwrights, ironworkers, electrician/electronics technician, engineers or amusement park maintenance professionals with experience in a decision making role or General Contractor capacity. Previous progressive experience in an attractions related Journeyman trade in the construction or commercial/industrial industry with Post-secondary education in project management, construction management, engineering, business management or related trades-based certifications are all considered valuable assets for the role. Utilizing proven project planning skills and experiences to preform cost evaluations, product and contractor sourcing, contract negotiations, risk management, plan reviews and completion of required documentation and project tracking. Establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with both internal partners and external regulatory bodies while ensuring established timeline adherences by contractors, subcontractors, and consultants. Experience overseeing a large number of staff, multi-tasking managing multiple projects at once, experience with dealing external vendors and representatives, and comfortable interacting with various levels of management up-to and including external management representatives and internal executives. Proven experience interpreting mechanical plans, schematics, blueprints and technical drawings. Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal English communication skills complemented by professional computer skills and abilities including Microsoft Office programs. A strong dedication to adhering to proper safe work practices, regulated safety and building codes, OH&S requirements and training protocols. Experience overseeing external contractors and sub-contractors and ensuring quality work is completed on worksites. Must be comfortable with heights, confined spaces, in proximity to chlorine, areas with flashing lights, humidity, and loud environments. Class 5 drivers license and the ability to provide a 3-year drivers abstract. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This full-time position works primarily Monday to Friday but requires flexibility, including the possibility of weekends and holidays to support the Parks 7-day a week operational needs.
