Summary The Automation Technicians role is to install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot automated systems, including robotics and control systems, to ensure safe, efficient and reliable production equipment and operations. Core Competencies Testing and troubleshooting automation Communication Energy and Stress Team work Problem solving Accountability and Dependability Operating equipment Ethics and Integrity Analytical Job Duties Perform routine diagnostic checks on automated production equipment to prevent failures Repair and replace faulty components, including sensors, servo motors, and pneumatic parts Conduct preventive maintenance, such as upgrading and calibrating machines to extend their lifespan and efficiency Address equipment failures and troubleshoot problems under pressure to minimize downtime Develop new automation processes Integrate continuous improvement projects through automation designing, building and programming Verify that new automated systems and production lines are functioning correctly Collaborate with engineers on system design and improvements Qualifications University Degree/College Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience 13 years related experience in an automotive/manufacturing industry Skills in industrial robot programming, PLC programming, machine vision Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing Ability to multitask and establish priorities Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership Able to create alternative solutions to problems Excellent time management and project management skills High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing Able to work well under pressure Strong attention to detail Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) Proven ability to troubleshoot Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize Must be a highly motivated, service and teamoriented individual with an attention to detail Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites Able to work all three shifts (Days, Afternoons and Midnights) Overtime as required Benefits Medical, dental, prescription, vision, life and disability insurance RRSP retirement savings plan Extensive safety training, new hire orientation, continuous learning and development programs and tuition reimbursement Paid holidays and vacation time Position Details Seniority level: Entry level Employment type: Fulltime Job function: Management and Manufacturing Industry: Automotive Employee Testimonials It engages you professionally, and provides learning opportunities.
