Senior Human Resources Advisor Expiry November 9, 2025 Senior Human Resources Advisor Permanent, Full-Time Green Timbers Location Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit BC (CFSEU-BC), British Columbias integrated anti-gang police agency, the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting a hard-working, self-motivated candidate for the Senior Human Resources Advisor position to provide support, guidance and advice to managers and employees. Reporting to the Staffing Advisor, this position will be responsible for: Managing the creation and/or updating of position descriptions and job postings, in addition to overseeing scoring matrix assessments. Coordinating staffing rationales and seeking approval from the Senior Management Team. Providing guidance and advice on assessment tools/methods to identify the most qualified applicant(s). Creating behavioural and technical interview questions based on core competencies and job requirements. Interviewing and reviewing applicants with the Managers/Team Leaders, as well as evaluating, assessing and making recommendations to identify the most successful and best suited applicant(s). Presenting verbal and written employment offers and ensuring that management is aware, as well as approvals are in place prior to decision. Researching and identifying appropriate recruitment platforms to post positions to attract and reach the most qualified and suitable applicants for the Unit. Liaising with Municipal Police representatives and members to initiate and prepare for transfers. Facilitating and coordinating the RCMP security clearance process for OCABC civilian, OCABC police and municipal/partner secondment positions working within CFSEU-BC. Managing all CFSEU-BC employee security clearance renewal and upgrades. Managing the orientation process which includes providing pertinent information to new employees/secondments and ensuring an easy transition. Managing the police appointment process to ensure OCABC members have the appropriate police designation. Overseeing the new employee process for benefits administration and enrolment, which includes liaising with the group benefit carriers and Municipal Pension Plan. Overseeing the required paperwork for all injuries under Work Safe BC/CLC regulation within the required timeframe. Managing leave balances for all employees (OCABC & Municipal Police). Overseeing, advising and educating employees on benefit coverage and rules and regulations that may impact employees. Assisting with the job evaluation process by working with the Director, Human Resources on review and assessment. Providing information, support, guidance, interpretation and advice to employees and Managers/Team Leaders for policies and processes that are based on the collective agreements for armed members (OCABC Police Association CBA) and civilian members (OCABC CUPE 718-06 CBA), and policies and procedures for exempt employees. Providing guidance, support and advice to Managers/Team Leaders on employee relations, performance or behavior matters. Oversee probation and performance assessment tracking and reporting on compliance numbers. Overseeing and supervising two subordinates, responsible for setting objectives and work plans, monitoring and providing feedback on work, completing performance appraisal and determining training requirements. Participating on various committees, working groups and attending meetings regarding HR operational issues. We are looking for a strong team player with a great attitude, and the following qualifications: Post-secondary diploma or Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field such as Business Administration, Commerce. A relevant combination of experience and education would be considered Certified Professional in Human Resources Management (CPHR) designation would be an asset Conflict Resolution courses would be an asset Minimum 5 years of relevant HR experience in the policing sector Minimum 2 years experience in a Human Resources Advisor role Fundamental knowledge in Human Resources Management and employment law Experience with performing high-level knowledge functions such as HR advising, interpretation of Employment Standards Act and dealing with employee relations Experience with HRIS systems is an asset Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Ability to make decisions and professional judgements Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters Demonstrated sound judgement, integrity and dependability Attention to detail and accuracy Experience and background in labour relations, collective bargaining and contract interpretation Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, One Note and Adobe Ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP security clearance. Candidates with an active RCMP clearance would be an asset. This is a union exempt position, working 37.50 hours per week. This position requires in-office attendance. A pool of candidates may be established to staff additional positions in the future. Posting closes on November 9, 2025.
