LOCATION: Special Education Department (Home community will be in one of the East Communities, and regular travel throughout the Boards jurisdiction will be required) START DATE: October 2025 (Maximum of 5 year term) The Board is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, creative, organized and professional Catholic educator/leader and special education specialist who is able to work effectively with the staffs, students, parents, and communities in the boards jurisdiction. Working closely with the Special Education Coordinator, and reporting to the Superintendent responsible for Special Education, the successful candidate will support with special education across the Boards jurisdiction. This includes but is not limited to conducting system-level IPRC and transition to school meetings, participating in case conferences and preregistration meetings as required, and contributing to the implementation of special education programming and services (e.g. SIP and projected needs). The successful candidate will collaborate with other Special Assignment Teachers and Multidisciplinary Team Members within the Special Education Department in providing direct support to students with assistive technology needs, facilitating services for students who are blind or have low vision, assisting with assigned Special Equipment Amount (SEA) and programming for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, and giving initial behaviour consultations to schools. The Special Education Consultant will offer jobembedded coaching and direct support to Learning Resource Teachers and Special Education Classroom Teachers with various aspects of their roles and responsibilities (e.g., IEP development, referrals, special education plans, programming, etc.). QUALIFICATIONS Primary, Junior, and Intermediate Divisions Special Education, Specialist Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Part 1 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications in the senior division Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Part 2/Specialist Computers in the Classroom, Part 1/Integration of Information and Computer Technology in Instruction, Part 1 Teaching Students who are Blind, Part 1 Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Qualifications Experience working as a Learning Resource Teacher or Special Education Classroom or Special Assignment Teacher At least 35 years of teaching experience Familiarity with the IEP Module in Aspen Experience and comfort with assistive technology Ability to facilitate professional learning sessions effectively, both in person and virtually Comfort with a wide variety of technologies (e.g. Google Classroom, LMS, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams) A strong belief in inclusion and working within a team capacity at the system-level Excellent verbal and written communication skills Superior interpersonal skills A valid drivers license with a willingness and ability to travel Please note, the job code must be included in the subject line of your email, in order to be considered for this position.
