Director, Enterprise Data Architecture, Data Strategy Join to apply for the Director, Enterprise Data Architecture, Data Strategy role at Sun Life. Job Description: We seek a strategic individual contributor to join our Enterprise Data architecture team as a Director, Enterprise Data Architecture for data strategy. This leadership role is responsible for designing critical enterprise data strategy in consultation with Sun Lifes business and enterprise partners, including the holistic alignment of technologies, standards, and practices that enable Sun Life to deliver world-class data and analytic systems. This role reports directly to the Global Head (AVP) of Data Architecture. The successful candidate will guide the evolution of our enterprise data architecture ''north star'' to support advanced data architectures such as event streaming, and federated data and AI governance. You will help shape the design, implementation, and adoption of AI-ready data. Responsibilities include: Engaging and leading data strategy discussions with business line executives and defining data architectures for enterprise initiatives. Developing enterprise data architecture patterns, defining playbooks and selecting appropriate technologies. Establishing and governing enterprise data architecture and technology standards, supporting GenAI and AI capabilities. Defining and creating Semantic Layers, Ontologies, and Knowledge Graphs. Presenting tools and technology proposals at Governance councils. Analyzing enterprise data requirements to enable new software and applications. Applying best practices across solution architecture, including cloud-native AWS, hybrid cloud, and on-premises solutions, focusing on operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. Collaborating across regions to share best practices and guide implementations. Providing hands-on support for complex technical issues related to enterprise data architecture. Partnering with Data and Analytics teams for POCs and pilots. Leading end-to-end solution design for data & analytics applications on cloud and on-prem platforms. Mentoring other data system designers and promoting best practices. Providing strategic guidance to solution teams to align with enterprise data & analytics strategies. Having prior experience in designing and delivering impactful data and analytics solutions. Qualifications include: Strategic engagement skills with executive stakeholders. 3+ years cloud-based data architecture experience in AWS, Azure, or GCP. 15+ years in data service design, architecture, and end-to-end implementation experience. Experience with Semantic Layers, Ontologies, Knowledge Graphs, GraphQL, ML/AI, and event streaming technologies. Knowledge of data governance, data modeling, and architecture patterns. Proficiency with tools like Kafka, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Snowflake, Informatica IICS, and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
