Sobeys is looking for a Bakery Manager - Retail to lead the bakery department in Calgary, AB. About the Role The Bakery Manager will be responsible for the efficient and fiscally responsible operation of the department. The Manager will lead, manage, coach, motivate and train staff to achieve the highest level of customer service while adhering to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies, Health and Safety, and other programs and initiatives. Key Responsibilities People Leadership: Create a coaching and development culture for all employees, foster customer loyalty, and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement. Customer Offering: Design and maintain a shopping experience that enhances loyalty, sales, and profit. Provide superior customer service, demonstrate exceptional product knowledge, and ensure products are ordered, received, organized, rotated, merchandised and presented in accordance with company standards. Policy/Regulatory Adherence: Lead the implementation of all corporate policies, initiatives, and SOPs ensuring department compliance and accurate, timely documentation. Financial Management: Directly responsible for achieving all financial targets, maximizing sales and margins, and controlling labor costs. Manage the department budget, perform sales forecasting, variance analysis and corrective actions. Personal/Professional Development: Attend required training, keep abreast of local competitor activity, industry trends and make recommendations on pricing, promotions and product policies. Employee Engagement: Act as the employer of choice by supporting an environment of engagement, initiating community and charitable events, and providing feedback for continuous improvement. Other Duties: Coordinate maintenance of department equipment and repairs, maintain a safe working environment, and perform additional duties as required. Qualifications Aboveaverage communication skills (oral and written). Full knowledge of department operations and skills. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma. Minimum 18 months of retail store experience, particularly in the specific department. Experience reading and analyzing financial reports, and experience in developing and adhering to budgets.
