Recruitment Consultant - Oil and Gas Operations Category Management Specialist Supply Chain Operations Description Our client, a leading player in the energy sector, is seeking a Category Management Specialist to join their Supply Chain Management team. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, SCM Operations Category Management, this role is responsible for managing assigned category portfolios and the full lifecycle of contracts from strategy development and sourcing execution to postaward performance management. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure the effective administration of contracts in alignment with our clients processes and standards. This position will also support the broader Operations Category Management team with RFx development, contract documentation, data analysis, and system support (Ariba, SAP, and performance reporting). This role supports category initiatives across Upstream and Downstream operations in North America. Key Responsibilities Manage assigned categories through the full lifecycle, including cost modeling, supplier analysis, and strategy execution. Execute sourcing initiatives per the annual plan while ensuring compliance with our clients SCM processes. Lead category management activities such as supplier prequalification, RFx development, bid evaluation, negotiations, and postaward contract management. Support postaward activities including KPI tracking, dispute resolution, claims management, and contract closeouts. Maintain accurate documentation in the Contract Management System. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Legal, Risk, HSE, QA/QC) throughout all commercial stages. Provide guidance and peer support to team members as needed. Support supplier performance reviews and SCM strategic objectives. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related discipline (or equivalent experience) 8+ years of experience in procurement or contract management 4+ years in category management Strong knowledge of sourcing and contracting lifecycle Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Word) Foundational understanding of P2P and Master Data Governance Excellent communication and time management skills Assets Professional Supply Chain certification (SCMP, CSCP, CIPS, ISM) Experience with SAP and Ariba systems Strong analytical and negotiation skills Officebased role (Calgary, AB) Occasional field visits may be required Fastpaced and collaborative environment Seniority level MidSenior level Employment type Contract Job function Supply Chain Industries Oil and Gas #J-18808-Ljbffr
