Casual Driver-Community Support Services Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre provided pay range. Base pay range: $20.24/hr - $21.47/hr Position Summary Drivers provide doortodoor, individualized service to meet client needs. They are responsible for driving clients to and from their appointments (medical, personal, or event) in a safe manner. Principal Responsibilities and Duties Drive agency vehicle to transport clients as directed by their immediate contact at the Centre Contact clients prior to pickup to confirm transportation time Ensure that clients are safely in their seats with seat belts buckled Escort (arm for support, no lifting or transfers) doortodoor clients to appointments Undertake inspection of the vehicle and report deficiencies to their immediate contact at the Centre (when required, take the van for maintenance) Driver training and evaluations as directed Gasoline fillup and oil check as required Maintain mileage log Submit timesheets to immediate contact at the Centre Must attend training sessions as designated by the WOCRC Responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle Availability Must be available to work early mornings, evenings and weekends Must be able to work with 24hour notice Hours Varies oncall Qualifications Valid driver's license G Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check Valid personal automobile insurance (minimum $2,000,000 liability) (NOTE: valid personal insurance is an essential requirement; applicants without insurance will not be accepted) Clean Ministry of Transportation driver record (driver abstract required) Good interpersonal skills Ability to exercise sound judgment and exhibit flexibility Reliable and able to deal with city traffic in a relaxed but efficient manner Must be able to work legally in Canada. Language Ability to communicate fluently in English, spoken and written Minimum of one position must be able to communicate in both official languages (English+French) Additional language abilities an asset The nature of the job requires the incumbent to be physically able to assist clients, (e.g. assisting clients into and out of vehicles, carrying groceries, folding and lifting assistive devices etc.) WOCRC has an accommodation process in place that provides accommodations for employees with disabilities.
