Overview Amazon is hiring Building Technicians to support data centers. The Building Operations Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The Building Technician serves as a technical resource to support Amazon within its data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain uptime better than 99.999%. Building Technicians are Amazons front line respondents for electrical and mechanical issues affecting availability. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, switchboards/switch-gears, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, CRAHs, CRACs, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. Responsibilities Oversee maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment in data centers. Serve as a technical resource to support Amazon data center operations. Respond to electrical and mechanical issues affecting availability and uptime. Assist with operation and optimization of standby diesel generators, fuel systems, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, HVAC equipment, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. Support efforts to reduce operational costs while driving innovation and maintaining reliability. Obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada. Basic Qualifications 2+ years of relevant work experience Experience in relevant work Ability to bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working Ability to use hands to manipulate small wires and objects Ability to walk on uneven terrain on job sites Ability to work at heights and from ladders Preferred Qualifications 4+ years of data center engineering experience Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Knowledge of network design and low-voltage (copper/fiber) cabling Experience in data center engineering Ability to perform physical tasks all day Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
