Description The Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking applications for a fulltime, tenuretrack faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank with a focus on bioprocessing and biomanufacturing. Applicants should have research in one or more of the following areas: bioprocessing of biologics (including vaccines, specialty chemicals, bioplastics, or other bioproducts), cellular agriculture, metabolic engineering, enzymatic engineering, or bioseparations. The role emphasizes pioneering solutions that enhance manufacturing capabilities while promoting a greener, healthier world. Responsibilities Teaching (40%) : Participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching, including classroom instruction, supervision of student research, and advising. Courses taught will typically be offered during the Fall and Winter semesters. Research (40%) : Conduct and disseminate highimpact research, seek external funding, and publish in peerreviewed venues. Service (20%) : Engage in departmental, faculty, and university governance, and contribute to public outreach and discipline service. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, or a closely related field. Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain licensure within five years of hire. Record of publication in reputable, peerreviewed journals and conferences. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in bioprocessing and related design topics. Record of service and volunteerism in research, teaching, and equity, diversity, and inclusion. Preferred Qualifications Experience in teaching, lesson planning, and curriculum design. Engagement with community boards, outreach to underrepresented communities, and relevant volunteer work. Grant application and financial management experience. Industry experience in engineering, sciences, or technology sectors. Experience in interdisciplinary, largescale research projects and collaboration with industry partners.
