Job description Urban Life Solutions is currently accepting applications for Class 1 Drivers for our Calgary Location. Under the direction of the Superintendent, the employee will be responsible for providing driving services to our various work sites in and around Calgary and performing Sander Operation duties. Responsibilities Safely operate Class 1 commercial vehicles for snow and ice removal, including dump trucks and sander trucks. Perform snow hauling, sanding, and salting operations according to assigned routes and schedules. Operate manual transmission vehicles with skill and care in winter conditions. Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of trucks and attached equipment, reporting any defects or maintenance needs. Load, transport, and unload snow or de-icing materials in compliance with weight and safety regulations. Apply sand and salt evenly and effectively to roadways, lots, and designated areas. Respond promptly to weather events and call-outs, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Maintain accurate logs of materials used, routes completed, and hours worked. Communicate effectively with dispatch and supervisors to coordinate routes and respond to changing conditions. Follow all safety procedures, traffic laws, and company policies while operating equipment. Assist with basic maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of assigned vehicles and attachments. Basic/Required Qualifications Valid Class 1 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract. Previous experience operating dump trucks and sander trucks preferred. Experience with 18-speed manual transmission strongly preferred. Strong understanding of safe driving and equipment operation in winter conditions. Ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required during snow events. Physically able to perform manual tasks and work in cold outdoor environments. Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Minimum 3 years of previous experience in a similar driving/operator role Exceptional customer service skills Ability to maintain simple records and make verbal reports Legally authorized to work in Canada Preferred Qualifications Previous landscaping, snow removal and/or maintenance experience is an asset Ability to take direction, give direction, learn and work independently as well as part of a team Ability to maintain composure and be a role model especially under stressful situations Motivated and energetic team player with an attention to detail and great work ethic Punctual and dependable Working Conditions/Physical Demands Working in a variety of outdoor environments with the ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures, noise, dust and wet work environments Standing, walking, squatting/crouching, and driving Operating a variety of heavy equipment and tools Repetitive motions Ability to regularly lift, carry, push and pull weights of up to 50 lbs Join our Team.
