Job Description

Shift Supervisor The Salvation Army (Canada) Location: 20 Leslie Street, Toronto, ON Overview We are a faithbased nonprofit that serves people in need across Canada and Bermuda. The Shift Supervisor will ensure safe, efficient store operations, excellent customer service, and adherence to mission and values. Accountabilities Interact with customers/donors in a positive, friendly, and courteous manner. Protect the integrity of all donated items. Responsible for accurate completion of all customer transactions including cash and debit sales. Contribute to meeting store budgets by maintaining customer service standards. Open and close store following store procedures when required. Process raw materials by loading/unloading, sorting, packing, pricing and storing donations. Possess knowledge of stock in order to respond to customer enquiries by phone/in person. Pay particular attention to store security by monitoring activity within the store. Handle merchandise in a safe and organized manner; assist in stock rotation. Assist with store layout plans to attract customers, including window displays and merchandise displays; ensure attractiveness of the store through Tidy Maintenance. Replenish inventory levels based on supervisors directions. Remove inventory from sales floor as directed. Maintain the proper sorting and processing of all donated goods, ensuring compliance with quality standards. Maintain an attractive organized appearance of the store, tidy up and restock shelves, clean, sweep, dust, and mop as necessary. Abide by store policy and procedures. Assist with inventory reconciliation (cycle counting). Provide excellent service to guests and donors. Act as a Team Lead/Working Supervisor for Store Associates only in the absence of the Store Manager. May be required to show some operations and provide on-the-jobtraining to staff. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with Health & Safety regulations. Performs other workrelated duties as assigned. Critical Relationship Management Internal: NRO Administration, TS management and staff. External: Donors, clients, contractors. Financial and Material Management Moderate material responsibility. May occasionally handle petite cash. Working Conditions Normal store environment. Constant physical effort (such as stretching, lifting up to 30 pounds with no assistance, bending, twisting, pushing, standing, and walking). Frequent exposure to fumes and dust and temperature fluctuations. Adherence to established deadlines must be met. Frequent amount of interpersonal conflict dealing with guests, donors, vendors, and employees. Work is varied with periods of repetitious tasks. All Salvation Army NRO employees are required to wear safety shoes at all times in all Store and DRC locations. Education, Experience and Qualifications Completion of some high school. Two years of experience in a store or warehouse environment. Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures. Skills and Capabilities Proven interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs on a frequent basis with no assistance from others. Attention to details. Ability to undergo screening and background checks Candidates must successfully undergo applicable screening and background checks satisfactory to The Salvation Army. Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $17.61 to $22.01 with a maximum of $26.41. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
